DAREDEVIL JIU JITSU LTD – MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Welcome & Membership

By joining DareDevil Jiu Jitsu Ltd (“the Academy”), you agree that these Terms & Conditions apply to you or your child as a member.

Membership provides access to training sessions, subject to availability, class schedules, and compliance with Academy guidelines. These Terms may be updated from time to time as the Academy evolves.

2. Respect, Safety & Community

We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive training environment.

Membership may be suspended or terminated where necessary to protect this environment, including but not limited to:

• Unsafe behaviour during training
• Disruptive, aggressive, abusive, or disrespectful behaviour toward coaches, staff, members, or families
• Conduct inside or outside the gym that negatively impacts the Academy or its community

We aim to handle all matters fairly and with clear communication.

3. Fees & Payment Structure

Membership fees are structured as an annual amount, divided into weekly payments for convenience.

Weekly payments continue throughout the year, including during holiday periods or reduced timetable times, as part of the overall membership structure.

Fees are not based on attendance and remain payable regardless of participation.

4. Payments & Missed Payments

If a payment fails, we may retry it and/or contact you to resolve the issue.

Where payments remain outstanding:

• Membership access may be paused until the account is brought up to date
• Any bank or processing fees incurred may be passed on

Repeated missed payments may result in termination of membership and recovery of outstanding balances.

5. Cancellation & Notice Period

Memberships may be cancelled at any time with a minimum of One Month written notice.

During the notice period:

• Weekly payments will continue as normal
• Membership access will generally remain active unless otherwise agreed

Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to the Academy.

6. Membership Pauses

We can sometimes offer membership pauses if needed.

Members may request up to 2 pauses per calendar year, subject to approval by management.

If approved:

• Training access may be paused during that time
• Billing may pause depending on the arrangement agreed in writing

All pause requests must be confirmed with the team so everything is set correctly.

Short-term pauses for holidays are generally supported.

However:

• Membership pauses are not available for travel related to competitions, including members representing DareDevil Jiu Jitsu at events outside of Auckland or overseas
• Memberships are not paused over the Christmas holiday period, as this time is already factored into the annual membership structure

7. No Refund Policy

All payments are non-refundable.

This includes (but is not limited to):

• Change of mind
• Non-attendance
• Early cancellation
• Missed classes or sessions

8. Exceptional Circumstances

We understand that unexpected situations can arise.

Requests for adjustments due to serious injury or relocation outside Auckland may be considered at the discretion of management. Any approved adjustments may be subject to an administrative fee.

9. Classes, Timetable & Changes

From time to time, class times, instructors, or schedules may change due to operational needs, events, or holidays.

We aim to keep any disruption minimal and communicate changes where possible.

10. Training & Injury Awareness

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a contact sport involving physical exertion, resistance, and sparring.

While we prioritise safety and responsible coaching, participation carries inherent risks. These may include sprains, strains, joint injuries, fractures, concussion, and in rare cases serious injury.

By participating, you acknowledge and accept these risks.

11. Health & Responsibility

Members (or parents/guardians) are responsible for ensuring that they or their child are medically fit to train.

Please inform the Academy of any injuries, conditions, or limitations that may affect safe participation.

12. Liability Waiver

By participating, you agree that DareDevil Jiu Jitsu Ltd, its coaches, staff, and members are not liable for injury, loss, damage, or death that may occur during training or related activities, except where required by law.

This includes classes, open mats, events, and trial sessions.

This agreement extends to your family, representatives, and assigns.

13. Media

Photos and videos may be taken during training and events for promotional and community purposes.

These may be used on social media or marketing platforms.

If you prefer not to be included, please notify us and we will make reasonable efforts to respect your request.

14. Progress & Grading

Progression in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is individual.

Belt promotions, grading decisions, and competition readiness are determined solely by the coaching team.

15. Visitors & Trials

These Terms & Conditions apply to all members, trial participants, and visitors while on the premises or participating in Academy activities.

16. Our Commitment to the Academy

DareDevil Jiu Jitsu Ltd reserves the right to make decisions necessary to protect the safety, wellbeing, and integrity of the Academy and its community.

By joining DareDevil Jiu Jitsu Ltd, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions and are legally bound by them.
